Help & Support
Turn your iPhone and iPad into additional speakers for your Mac, and arrange them by device name.
Connect and share
- Open Sidecar Speaker on the Mac and choose “开启连接” (Enable Connections).
- Open the app on each iPhone or iPad. Allow local network access and select your Mac.
- Approve each connection on the Mac. Then choose “开始共享系统音频” (Start Sharing System Audio) and grant the macOS audio-recording permission if prompted.
- Play audio in another Mac app. Use “排列设备…” (Arrange Devices) to position speakers while playback is stopped.
- Open “更多设置” (More Settings) to adjust each device’s volume, latency, or receiver name. Disconnect and reconnect a receiver after changing its name.
Requirements and sound
Mac requires macOS 14.2 or later. iPhone and iPad require iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. Keep devices on a trusted, usable local IP network and use built-in speakers. Multiple devices distribute a stereo source’s left and right channels; they do not create discrete surround channels.
If a device does not appear or audio stops
- Check local network permission and that the Mac has enabled connections. On networks that block device-to-device traffic, discovery or playback may fail.
- Check Mac system audio-recording permission, the source app’s playback, and each device’s volume. Protected content may not be available for capture.
- Return to the receiver app and reconnect if necessary. Disconnect headphones, Bluetooth, or AirPlay outputs before using the built-in speakers.
- If playback stutters, try a larger shared delay in More Settings and a more stable network. Delay can affect audio/video synchronization.
- For iPad Sidecar, begin receiving audio before returning to Sidecar. A USB cable alone is not a dedicated audio transport for this app.
Network privacy: local audio and connection messages are currently unencrypted. Use only trusted networks and avoid confidential audio. Read the privacy policy and terms of use.
